According to statistics of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, 2020, 85,9% in July compared to the same month of the previous year, a decrease of 933 thousand foreign visitors entertained. The number of foreign visitors increased by 334% compared to the previous month due to the base effect.
In the first quarter of 2020, 3 billion dollars revenue was generated from foreign visitors. In March, revenue was 52,1 million dollars with a decrease of 660% from foreign visitors compared to the same month of the previous year, while the revenue in the first quarter was 11,1 billion dollars, decreasing by 3,3% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
Following the tension we experienced with Russia after the downing of the Russian warplane, there was a sharp decline in the number of foreign visitors following November 2015.
