Hot Air Balloon Flights Restart on August 22nd

Adil Karaismailoğlu, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, announced that the hot air balloon tours, which were stopped due to the covid-19 outbreak, will be resumed with coronavirus measures as of August 22. Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the rules to be followed in balloon flights used by more than 600 thousand tourists every year are made into a circular and said, "Regulations have been made to the extent determined by the Ministry of Health and international organizations regarding all measures to be taken before, during and after the flight of balloons."

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu world that countries with Turkey has to continue the national struggle with the measures taken against the coronavirus outbreak that affected, said after the launch of the normalization process in Turkey and the world that starts opening gradually of flights in aircraft and transport modes from the citizens of victimization drew attention to the use.

In this process, Minister Karaismailoğlu reminded that hot air balloon flights were also negatively affected by the covid-19 epidemic and therefore flights were stopped during the epidemic period, gradually opening mutual flights with countries, as well as to all tourism regions, as well as to Cappadocia, where the beauties of our country are exhibited, to regions where hot air balloon flights are made. He noted that tourists showed great interest. Karaismailoğlu said, "After the evaluations, we will start the balloon flights again on the condition that coronavirus measures are implemented as of August 22".

Circular prepared

Stating that the rules to be followed in balloon flights were determined by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation and turned into a circular, Minister Karaismailoğlu said:

“Arrangements have been made to the extent determined by our Ministry of Health and international organizations regarding all measures to be taken before, during and after the balloon flight. Masks, distance, personal cleaning, disinfection and other operational issues are regulated with the circular that is in the process of publication.

Karaismailoğlu also stated that passengers will be reduced in order to help protect the social distance rule in sections where the balloon basket section capacity is determined as 4 and above, and that according to the circular prepared, the fire measurement hour and temperature of each passenger will be recorded in the passenger manifesto. Minister Karaismailoğlu underlined that necessary measures will be taken to maintain social distance continuously during ground operations.

50 thousand passengers until March

Karaismailoğlu, that uses hot air balloon an average of 600 thousand tourists in Turkey every year, this number in 2019 is 660 thousand now recalled, until March that stopped the expedition said that 50 thousand people attend hot air balloon tour.

Stating that hot air balloon travels are an important element of attraction for tourists in visiting major touristic regions in the world, Minister Karaismailoğlu emphasized that many tourism regions that have a special place worth seeing have become brand places in tourism in the world by supporting these features with hot air balloon flights. Pointing out that the Cappadocia Region is one of these brand regions, Karaismailoğlu said, “The Cappadocia Region is one of the few touristic regions accepted in the world both in terms of tourism and being a hot air balloon point. Hot air balloon flights are undoubtedly one of the prominent tourism activities for Nevşehir Province and Cappadocia Region and are of vital importance not only for regional tourism but also for country tourism. I believe that the recent increase in our international air passenger flights and the increase in bookings at hotels located in balloon flight regions will also increase the number of balloon passengers by the end of the year ”.
