The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and Motorway Project consists of 88 kilometers of motorway and 13 kilometers of connection roads between Malkara and Çanakkale. The project is part of the 324-kilometer Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaştepe Highway Project. Over 62 percent has been realized in the Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaştepe Motorway project, which currently includes the Çanakkale Bridge. When the project is completed, it is expected to save 567 million lira from annual time and fuel. In project scope; In addition to the bridge, two approach viaducts, four reinforced concrete viaducts, 57 bridges, 31 underpasses, 217 hydraulic and service culverts of various sizes, 12 intersections, four highway service facilities, two maintenance operation centers, seven toll collection stations are being built.


The bridge has a middle span of 2 thousand 23 meters and a side span of 770 meters. When completed, the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which will be the longest middle span suspension bridge in the world with this length, will become the world's tallest tower suspension bridge with its 334-meter peak height.


Crossing the strait section between Lapseki and Gelibolu, which connects Asia and Europe, by ferry; Considering the long queues and waiting times, especially due to heavy traffic in the summer months, it varies between 1,5 and 5 hours. It will be possible to cross this distance with the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge in six minutes. With the development of an alternative route, it is also planned to alleviate the heavy transit traffic burden of Istanbul between Europe and Anatolia. It was announced that the investment cost of the Çanakkale Bridge and Motorway Project was over 3 billion Euros, including the financing cost. The bridge is aimed to be completed on 18 March 2022.
