The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, which has changed the 1 / 100.000 scale environmental plan prepared by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality at the end of 2019, and plans the construction of Kanal Istanbul and Yenişehir into the plans. Approved 7 of them at the end of June. The plans, which were suspended for one month on July 1 for the evaluation of objections, include Arnavutköy and Başakşehir districts.
650 HOUSES TO BE EXPLORED
According to the plans, Yeniköy Neighborhood, which is connected to Arnavutköy district and located on the Black Sea coast, will be expropriated within the framework of its project. A total of 300 houses, 350 of which are located in the center, 650 of which are located on the coastline, will be expropriated due to the logistics center project that will be implemented.
Stating that 2 thousand people will be affected by the arrangement, Yeniköy District Headman Timur Çevik said, “I made the necessary information to the residents about the issue. At the moment, citizens are discussing how to act for the appeal process, ”he said. Stating that a part of Yeniköy will pass over Canal Istanbul, Çevik said that the remaining part is planned as a logistics area, “We do not know when and how the plans will be realized, will be paid for expropriation, or will be shown in another area. Those who live permanently in Yeniköy are mainly engaged in farming. There are also summer houses for those who come temporarily. ”
2 MILLION SQUARE METERS
The 2 million 76 thousand square meter area that covers the Yeniköy Quarter, which is separated to the east of Kanal Istanbul's Black Sea entrance, was designed as a logistics center within the scope of the Yenişehir project. It is planned to transfer a large part of Istanbul's logistics to this region, supported by the container port and warehouses of the cargo city developed by IGA at Istanbul Airport.
