Having evaluated the TOGG electric domestic car investment, the foundation of which was laid in Gemlik and aimed to be launched in 2022, OİB Chairman of the Board of Directors Baran Çelik thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his contribution towards the realization of the project. Emphasizing that the government attaches great importance to the development of the automotive industry in line with its vision and goals, Baran Çelik said, “Our automotive industry is always prioritized because of its contribution to production, export and employment, both in terms of economic strategies and incentives and measures. Likewise, the domestic automobile project, which has taken the first step towards the start of the production leg, is one of the most important elements reflecting our vision and assertion in the automotive sector under the leadership of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. ”

Underlining that the world automotive industry today is surrounded by new trends such as electric, interconnected, driverless and shared vehicles, OİB Chairman of the Board of Directors Baran Çelik said: “In the new ecosystem of the automotive, investments in information and entertainment systems and software are gaining importance. Mechanical technology is being replaced by artificial intelligence applications in the axis of information and software technologies. Regarding this year's export target of the automotive industry, Baran Çelik said, “The extent to which demand will return in the European Union market in the coming months will be decisive for our exports. We anticipate that it will take time to recover due to a pandemic. This year, we revised our target and set it as $ 25 billion. If everything goes well, our goal will be to reach the figures before the pandemic from 2021 onwards. ”
