UZMAR, which provides emergency response service to marine pollution by deploying equipment and personnel to TCDD İzmir Port; TCDD held a marine pollution emergency response exercise at İzmir Port.

The exercise was conducted in coordination with UZMAR Team and Serdar GÖRÜR, Izmir Port Operation Manager, TCDD.

The UZMAR Team, which took action with the scenario rash notice, made the necessary discoveries with the boats and the scenario pollution was taken under control by laying the barriers located on the pier into the sea. On the other hand, TCDD mobilized all relevant departments, especially the Izmir Port Environmental Unit, and provided necessary logistics, security and other support activities. Subsequently, the pollution collection phase was initiated and skimmer / scrapers were launched and the pollution collected from the sea surface was transferred to floating storage tanks. The wastes transferred to the floating storage tanks were sent to licensed waste reception facilities with the possibilities and capabilities of TCDD İzmir Port and the application was terminated.

With this exercise, it was seen that the cooperation, communication and coordination between UZMAR and TCDD İzmir Port are very good and prepared for spills that may occur at the port.
