The Ministry of Industry and Technology took an important step in order to train qualified labor force by directing young people to the industry sector. East Marmara Development Agency (MARKA), which carries out its activities under the coordination of the General Directorate of Development Agencies under the Ministry, will receive 10 thousand people of practical training per year with a financial support of 2 million TL.

Laying the foundation of the Applied Advanced Engineering Center of Excellence, Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank said, “We also attach great importance to directing young people to the industry sector and raising them in this field. University-industry cooperation projects will be implemented in the center. Innovative product development capacity of nearly 3 thousand companies will increase. ” said.

Minister Varank laid the foundations of the Istanbul Metalware Craftsmen Cooperative (IMES) OIZ Applied Advanced Engineering Center of Excellence. In addition to Varank, Kocaeli Governor Seddar Yavuz, Metropolitan Mayor Tahir Büyükakın, Kocaeli Chamber of Industry Chairman Ayhan Zeytinoğlu, İMES OSB Chairman İrfan Küçükay attended the ceremony.

In his speech at the ceremony, Varank stated that industrial production increased by 17,4 percent in May compared to April, and summarized the following:

606 NEW FACILITIES: In June, 421 new industrial enterprises were established. This number corresponds to a 91 percent increase compared to last year. New factories continue to be opened in OIZs as well, 606 production facilities started operating in the first half of the year.

INCENTIVE REQUEST INCREASED 14 PERCENT: In the first six months, demand for incentives increased by 14 percent compared to last year. It is of course very pleasing that the deferred consumption turned towards investments. Of course, the important thing is that this trend becomes stable and continuous. When we look at the expectations and foreign demand channel, we can see the improvement there.

ELECTRIC CONSUMPTION IN INDUSTRY: In the first two weeks of July, the electricity consumption in the industry has exceeded the April and June periods as well as the same period of March. So, for the first time in the last 3 months, we pass the month of March.

BEWARE OF THE INFORMATIC VALLEY: The way to become an indispensable player in global competition is through investing in innovation. Based on this, we have positioned the technology base that will shape the tomorrow of our country in Kocaeli, the Information Valley. TURKEY OPEN SOURCE PLATFORM: Financing of Istanbul and East Marmara Development Agency, Turkey TUBITAK TÜSSİDE Informatics Valley have established a partnership with the Open Source platform. Of course, we also have private sector companies and NGOs here. With this platform, we aim to produce critical software needed by the public and private sector, to enlarge our country's software developer pool and to reduce foreign dependency on software.

SOFTWARE SCHOOLS: We will organize coding training programs and open software schools through the Open Source Platform. One of these schools will be established in the Valley of Informatics. Thus, we will give our young people new skills in different fields of technology. However, we also attach great importance to direct young people to the industry sector and raise them in this field.

16 MILLION LIRA PROJECT: Applied Advanced Engineering Center of Excellence, which we will lay the foundations today, is of critical importance in this respect. 16 million liras of the 10 million lira project will be financed by our development agency. With the realization of this center, applied trainings will be given to 2 thousand people annually in order to train the skilled labor force required by the industry, university-industry cooperation projects will be implemented, and the innovative product development capacity of nearly 3 companies will increase when we include environmental OIZs.

CONSULTANCY SUPPORT: Companies will be given consultancy support on lean production and efficiency issues, and businesses that want to make R&D will be able to benefit from the design and advanced engineering programs of the center. The companies will also be able to benefit from the prototyping, manufacturing, testing and measurement facilities of this center. Thus, the competencies of both human capital and companies in the surrounding OIZs will develop by diversifying.
