Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), owned by the state-run Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in India, made a statement and announced that it was the first domestic manufacturer to produce this product at European standards, starting the production of vanadium rails for use on high-speed train tracks.
The company said that it started its vanadium rail production on Sunday at BSP's Universal Steel Mill (USM) workshop, using alloys of the vanadium element, to double the life of the railway line for high-speed trains.
The company stated that initially 300 R-260 quality vanadium rails will be produced in BSP's USM workshop, and after the delivery of these rails, the factory will produce only R-260 quality. Currently, USM produces 880 quality railway lines, but converting all production to R-260 quality will increase the life of Indian Railways from 10 to 20 years if high speed trains are used.
