It was decided to update the Ankara Transportation Master Plan, which was prepared and completed by Gazi University in 2013, which has not been approved until now. It was reported that the new update decision was due to the fact that Sincan, Çayyolu, Keçiören subways and Başkentray were not operational at that time and the route of the airport metro did not coincide with the plan.

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Council unanimously decided to update the Ankara Transportation Master Plan. In the Presidential Letter written on the subject, the construction of the Ankara Metropolitan Area and its Surrounding Transport Master Plan started in 2013 and the related plan was sent to the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications in 2016, but the plan sent an evaluation letter in 2017. It was stated that it has not come into force because it has not been approved.

The reasons for the plan change to be made were also explained. Accordingly, while the Ankara Transportation Master Plan prepared in 2013 was being prepared, Sincan, Çayyolu, Keçiören metro lines and Başkentray were not opened for operation.

In addition, while conducting the Transportation Master Plan, the data of 2013 / 1 scale Ankara Master Plan was taken into consideration in March 25.000, but 2017 / 1 Ankara Master Plan was approved in 1.000.000. It was stated that the Ankara Transportation Master Plan prepared in 2013 should be harmonized with this new environmental plan.

It was stated that the route of the airport metro, designed by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, does not coincide with the Transport Master Plan, and the route should be updated. With this new decision, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Council will prepare the Ankara Metropolitan Area and its Near Environment Transportation Master Plan, targeted in 2038. This new plan will be submitted for approval at the UKOME General Assembly and will be legalized. This plan is expected to be updated by Gazi University again.
