With its Hyperloop or Turkish adaptation, the speed slot, in short, is a high-speed rapid transportation vehicle developed by Elon Musk with tapray (next generation radio system) technology. The vehicle is defined as a top level sur-rail system. Although the project remained on an idea basis for a period of time, the 2016-kilometer test road, the construction of which began in January Nevada Desert in January 4.8; It was the first concrete step to realize the concept. Test pieces and capsules are designed for the construction of this test path. It is planned to complete the first full-scale vehicle sample and test road at the end of 2016. The preliminary design documents of the vehicle were announced to the public in 2013. For the project, a route was offered, most of which was parallel to the Interstate 5 railroad, including a route from Los Angeles to San Francisco Bay. In the preliminary analysis, it was determined that a journey on this route can be carried out in about 35 minutes. This means that passengers will reach their destination on an average of 570 km / h on a 962 km route. It is thought that the highest speed on this route will be 1,220 km / h. According to the evaluations, the cost of the system is only 6 billion dollars for the passenger transport version. This cost will reach $ 7,5 billion for a system that can carry vehicles and people.
The cost estimate of the California route project was prepared by the transportation engineers in 2013. The study showed that the construction confidence scale for an untested project is quite low. This project whose economic and technological feasibility has not been proved; caused controversy in related circles.
Hyperloop is a unified name consisting of the words hyper and loop. Hyper means "superior, extreme". Loop, on the other hand, means "loop, tumble, loop, round (rotating capsule)". While the word hyper, which constitutes the name, indicates the speed superiority, the word loop indicates that the vehicle consists of a magnetic field capsule, that is, a round. The semantic translation of the name of the vehicle in Turkish is "speed slot" or "speed ball" if the cyclical properties of the vehicle are taken into account.
Elon Musk first introduced tapray vehicles as the “fifth type of transportation” after land, sea, air and rail system transportation. In July 2012, he announced that he named this new vehicle Hyperloop, which he was in designing at a PandoDaily event in Santa Monica. Musk has gathered his expectations from this theoretical high speed transportation system in a few characteristic features. Accordingly, his aim was to design a transportation vehicle that is not affected by weather conditions, has no risk of accidents, on average, twice the speed of an ordinary jet, consumes little energy and can store energy for 24-hour uninterrupted operation.
Musk planned the tapra as a vehicle that could travel at a speed between the electromagnetic ball and Concorde. This system is a cross-rail system and does not require a railway network. Musk believes this system can be built underground or above ground.
From late 2012 to August 2013, a group of engineers at Tesla and SpaceX worked on the theoretical foundation of the tapray system. Towards the end of this process, engineers tried to plan this project full time. The first designs for the system were published on Tesla and SpaceX blogs. Musk said that he is open to the contributions that people make for the development of the system; he invited people interested in the subject to the development process. This system would be an open source system and would be open to theoretical use and modifications. This line is planned to be used to test the designs of three third parties involved in the design competition. In January 2016, the construction of the 8 km long tapray test line, the construction of which was started in order to test Hyperloop, started at its own facilities in the Pier Valley of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies.
Theoretical dimension and construction
High-speed rail and high-speed transport developers in general have had problems managing friction and weather resistance historically. When the vehicles reach high speed, these two factors become very important. By developing the vacuum tube train concept, it was thought that this problem could be eliminated by theoretically magnetic rail trains. Theoretically, the tubes or tunnels in which the air is discharged enable the production of vehicles capable of driving thousands of kilometers per hour. However, the high cost of magnetic rail trains and the difficulty of maintaining vacuum on long-distance travels; restricted investors' activities in this area. Recommended Route for Hyperloop
The construction of Hyperloop will provide a significant savings in the cost of transportation between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Passengers will be able to travel much faster from Downtown Los Angeles to San Francisco. Today, settlements between Sylmar and Hayward have to transfer with different transportation channels in order to connect to the main transportation network. This causes the total travel time to increase significantly. A similar problem is also experienced in air transportation between Los Angeles and San Francisco due to the distance from airports to the airports. According to the master plan of the project, which also takes into account, the transportation network is planned to start from the vicinity of Sylmar, just south of Tejon Pass.
