An Increase in Goods Carried by Chinese European Freight Trains

It has been announced that there has been an increase in the amount of goods carried by freight trains traveling between China and Europe. According to the information obtained from the Alashankou Border Gate customs in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the amount of goods transported by these trains has increased due to the fact that China-Europe freight trains have also taken over the transportation of some goods planned to be made by air and sea since the emergence of the COVID-19 epidemic.

It was reported that Alashankou Border Gate inspected 2 thousand 128 Sino-European freight trains and 192 thousand containers entering and departing, and this number made up one fifth of the number of Sino-European freight trains operating in the country.

The amount of goods carried by the Chinese-European freight trains entering and leaving the Alashankou Border Gate increased by 76,85 percent in the first six months of the year, reaching 1 million 461 thousand tons.

On the other hand, the number of trains exported from China reached 288 thousand and the amount of goods carried by these trains reached 700 thousand tons. In addition, the number of train services that import products to China has increased to 840 and the amount of goods carried by these trains to 760 thousand tons.
