China's independently developed AG600 large amphibious aircraft made its first flight on the sea in Qingdao city of Shandong province. According to information from the country's aircraft manufacturer, the Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC), the aircraft took off from Qingdao waters on Sunday at 10.18 and the test flight was completed after flying for about 31 minutes.
AVIC announced that the above-mentioned flight was the most important progress for this large amphibious aircraft after the first flight from land in 2017 and its departure from the water tank in 2018.
The AG600 large amphibious aircraft will play an important role in extinguishing fires, by shuttleing between the water supply and the fire point and taking water. The amphibious aircraft, which can carry a maximum of 12 tons of water, can extinguish a fire in an area of 4 thousand square meters at a time. In addition to searching at low altitude, the search and rescue operation parked on the water surface can be started and 50 people can be evacuated at once.
