The 96th General Assembly and the Executive Board Meetings of the International Railways Association, where TCDD General Manager Ali İhsan Uygun is the Vice President, was held as a video conference on 30 June 2020.

In the meetings held on the internet for the first time in the history of UIC, an interim report on the activities carried out in 2020 was presented, and the targets planned for the second half of 2020 were announced.

It was stated that one of the sectors most affected by the Covid-2020 pandemic, which affected the world in the first half of 19, was the transportation sector, and the Covid-19 Task Force was established within the UIC to minimize the effects of Covid-19 on the industry.

As a result of the work of the Task Force, which was included and contributed by our organization, it was stated that 3 new booklets on the measures taken on the railways will be published in July.

Using 5G technology, information was given about the FRMCS system, which will replace the GSM-R system in the railways in the future.

Nevertheless, it was stated that the DIGIM III - Blockchain project will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2021, aiming to design a pilot operation to evaluate the added value of the blockchain on the international Railway Load corridor, which is planned to be launched in 2020.

Issues such as standardization, global activities, financial reporting and membership issues were also discussed at the meeting.
