Ertuğrul Yıldırım, Deputy Secretary General of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, visited TCDD İzmir 3rd Regional Directorate regarding the allocation of areas determined for the transportation of domestic solid wastes by train.

Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, which has taken action after the protocol signed between Manisa Metropolitan Municipality and TCDD 3rd Regional Directorate on the transportation of domestic solid wastes, has determined the transfer locations of the garbage from the districts to come to Uzunburun Solid Waste Disposal and Landfill Facility. In this context, Deputy Secretary General of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Ertuğrul Yıldırım, together with Fatih Öztürk, Head of the Department of Environmental Protection and Control, visited Murat Bakır, Deputy Director of TCDD İzmir.

700 tons of waste will be transported daily

Expressing that he is the municipality of the firsts with the investments and projects he has realized in Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, Ertuğrul Yıldırım said, “On 9 January 2020, we signed a protocol with TCDD 3rd Regional Directorate on the transportation of domestic solid wastes to Uzunburun Solid Waste Disposal and Regular Storage Facility by train. We have acted quickly from this date. As it is known, the garbage in the districts are transported to Uzunburun Solid Waste Disposal and Landfill Facility by trucks. We are on the verge of a new era in terms of transportation of domestic solid waste. We aim to transfer the domestic solid wastes collected from the districts to the train at 2 points we determine. We planned as two lines as Akhisar (Süleymanlı) - Yunusemre (Muradiye) and Alaşehir (Killik) - Yunusemre (Muradiye). At least 700 tons of waste per day will be transferred to Uzunburun Solid Waste Disposal and Landfill Facility. The active use of railway from municipal solid wastes train transporting a reduction in carbon emissions, the method to alleviate traffic load will be the pioneer in Turkey in ensuring that the fuel savings will be an example of the effective and efficient use of public resources. "
