Civil Society Organizations (NGOs) in Samsun and Ordu made a joint statement and asked the fate of Samsun-Ordu Railway, which was canceled on 24 December 2019, to the State Railways. NGO representatives stated that the project, which was canceled about 6 months ago due to deficiencies in the technical specifications, was not put up for tender again. NGOs stated that they expect the railway project to be put out to tender as soon as possible.

Tayfun Karataş, President of Fatsa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FATSO), pointed out the importance of the railway in terms of trade and tourism and said, “As the whole Black Sea, we express the lack of railway. Our voice must have been heard that our state has announced that it will bid on the project for the Samsun-Ordu Railway Line. Our dreams fell into the water when we said we were close to the final result. The people of the region should get on the railroad without waiting any longer ”.
ÜTSO CHAIRMAN AKAR: WE ARE WAITING TO BE TENDER AGAIN FOR 6 MONTHS
İrfan Akar, President of Ünye Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ÜTSO), said: “For about 6 months, the Armies have been waiting for this project to be realized. We do not see any steps at the moment following the canceled project tender. This worries us if the project is shelved. A statement should be made to both Ordu and the people of Samsun on the subject. This project should be tendered in a short time and its connection with our port should be realized.
