The freight train carrying plastic raw materials from Gaziantep to Çorlu completed its passage through Marmaray with the participation of Minister Karaismailoğlu.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu welcomed his first domestic freight train at Söğütlüçeşme station, which will pass through Marmaray on 08.05.2020. TCDD General Manager Ali İhsan Uygun and the officials accompanied the Minister Karaismailoğlu at the Marmaray pass of our first domestic freight train passing from Asia to Europe using Marmaray.
Minister Karaismailoğlu arrived at Kazlıçeşme station by getting into the mechanic section of the train that came to the pero at 22.36. Depending from Söğütlüçeşme at 22.40, the train arrived at Kazlıçeşme station at 23.04. A press conference was held for the first pass domestic freight train of Kazlıçeşme Station. Speaking at the meeting, Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu said, “We are witnessing a historic moment this evening. The first domestic freight train will pass through Marmaray and reach Çorlu. The train weighing 1200 tons consists of 16 wagons and carries plastic raw materials in 32 containers. The cargo from Anatolia will be transported continuously between Asia and Europe. Loads to be taken from Anatolia to Tekirdağ were previously transported to Derince by train, by ferry from Derince and subsequently to industrial facilities in Çorlu by land. After that, the cargo will pass from Marmaray to Europe without interruption. As of this evening, we are starting to pass our domestic freight trains through Marmaray. Severe breakthroughs have been made on the railroad for 17 years. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars line was opened earlier. The Samsun-Sivas line connecting the Black Sea to Anatolia was put into operation last week. ”
Our High Speed Train Investments Continue
Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “High-speed train investments continue. We are trying to put the Ankara-Sivas high speed train line into service this year. Work continues on the Ankara-Izmir line. Our railway investments in all parts of our country such as Bursa, Yenişehir, Osmaneli, Adana and Mersin are progressing rapidly. As you know, we had passed the freight train departing from Beijing in November to Europe by using the middle corridor. He carried out the first international freight transport, ”he said.
Answering the questions after his statements, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “Will the continuation of international transportation activity continue?” "We are making preparations. Our preparations continue by using the middle corridor on our international trains. I hope we will meet them here again soon. ”
