EU countries' GDP contracted by 3,5% in the first quarter, and this figure corresponds to the highest shrinkage seen since 1995 when data was announced on a quarterly basis. Similarly, it was announced that the US economy contracted by 4,8% beyond the expectations in the same period.

This decrease observed in March and April caused our exports, which increased by 2% in the first 4,0 months of the year, to show negative growth as of the 4-month period.

In April, our imports decreased by 28,31% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 12 billion 957 million dollars.

OUR FOREIGN TRADE DEFICIT IS 3,9 BILLION USD IN APRIL

While our foreign trade deficit was realized as 3 billion 965 million dollars in April, our foreign trade volume decreased by 34,31% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 21 billion 950 million dollars.

According to GTS, while the top three countries that we export the most are 22,6% of our total exports as of April, the share of the top three countries to which we import the most is 30,5%.

On the other hand, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the top 5 countries in terms of value decrease in April in terms of value compared to the same period of the previous year were England, Germany, France, Spain and Italy. The increase in exports to Azerbaijan, which was seen in April 2020, by 7,88%, to Hong Kong by 28,8% and to South Korea by 51,0%, attracted attention.

THE MOST USED TRANSPORTATION IN FOREIGN TRADE HAS SEA TRANSPORTATION.

In April 2020, the total of foreign trade that we made with Turkish Lira was 8 billion 922 million TL, of which 2 billion 952 million TL was exports and 5 billion 970 million TL was imports.

HKS NOTIFICATION NUMBER REACHED 12.8 MILLION

As of April 2020, the number of active firms operating in our country decreased by only 146, compared to the previous month, to 1 million 936 thousand 554, while limited companies accounted for 44,5% of total active firms. As the Ministry, the number of people registered in the Hal Register System, which we developed and successfully implemented in order to ensure stability in consumer prices and to provide confidence to our consumers, increased by 6,64% compared to the previous year, while the number of notifications in the system was 12 million 776 thousand.

SHARE OF THE TAX COLLECTED BY THE CUSTOMS ADMINISTRATION 22,41%

The tax amount collected by the customs administrations was 10 billion 690 million TL in April. In January-March period of 2020, while the total tax revenues of our country were 176 billion 100 million TL, the share of taxes collected by the Customs Authorities in the total tax revenues was 22,41%. The total amount of taxes collected by the Customs Authorities in 2020 was 50 billion 149 million TL.

THE NUMBER OF WOMEN'S TRADES INCREASED

At the end of April, the number of tradesmen and craftsmen operating in our country has reached 2 million 20 thousand 150.
