The first freight train, numbered 45166, on the modernized Samsun-Sivas Kalın Railway Line, made its first journey with 84 axles and 580 tons of cargo. The line that brings Central Anatolia to the Black Sea is expected to contribute significantly to the trade of the region.

The 2015 kilometer line between Sivas and Samsun, which is located within the boundaries of TCDD 4th Region, whose infrastructure and superstructure standards were raised with the works started in 378, was reopened. As part of the renovation works, signalization and telecommunication systems were installed and 48 historical bridges were restored, as well as 30 bridges and 1054 culverts were rebuilt. The duration of the voyage, which was previously 8 hours and 50 minutes, decreased to 5 hours and 45 minutes after modernization.

350% of the modernization efforts, which cost about 85 million Euros, were covered by the EU grant fund and 15% by the Ministry of Transport and the General Directorate of TCDD.

Staff Return to Their Main Duty Places

In 2015, during the closure of the Samsun Sivas line to voyages due to modernization, the personnel working on this line was asked to be assigned to other provinces, and the personnel who did not want to be assigned to other provinces were provided to work temporarily. With the opening of the line, the staff working on the line had the opportunity to work at their original duty again.
