How Much is the Cost of Holidays in Bridges with Pass Guaranteed?

CHP Istanbul Deputy Özgür Karabat stated that 72 million TL was damaged during the curfew through bridges that guarantee pass. CHP Deputy Özgür Karabat said, “According to the President's decision, it is free to pass through bridges during the holiday. Whereas no longer guaranteed because of public private partnership projects is nothing free in Turkey. All citizens finance the treasury with their taxes. Maybe nobody will be able to use the bridges due to the 3-day feast, but at least 2 million lira will be paid to the contractors from the treasury for only 72 bridges. ”

Karabat said that guaranteed bridges turned black holes in the budget, especially during the epidemic days, continued:

• In 2016, when Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge was opened, the warranty price per vehicle was determined as 3 dollars plus VAT. In other words, the government, which says to buy your dollar to citizens at every opportunity, even makes its own tender with dollars.
• It is not enough, there is also a toll in this dollar. Because, according to the tender, the price of the guarantee comes as much as the inflation rate in the USA. Thus, the warranty price per vehicle is increased to $ 2020 plus VAT for 3,16.
• The number of guaranteed vehicles is 135 thousand per day. It is not a number that can be achieved in any year. Especially in the case of epidemic, these bridges are the return of the budget to black hole. The 3-day cost of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge alone is at least 7,8 million liras.

Emphasizing that Osmangazi Bridge can be distributed to tens of thousands of households with guarantee prices, Karabat said:

• The cost of Osmangazi Bridge is much more. The number of guaranteed vehicles is 95 thousand per day. The warranty amount per vehicle in 2016 is 35 dollars plus VAT. However, inflation in Turkey was not enough as the US inflation is taken into account.
• Thus, the warranty price in 2020 increases to $ 36,9 plus VAT. Only Osmangazi's minimum 64,2 days worth of 3 million liras will be paid out of our pockets. I say at least because, as can be seen, the calculation is made in dollar rate.
• While calculating, we calculated the average dollar rate of the first 3 months of this year. As the dollar rate rises, the price to be paid to the contractors operating these bridges from the treasury also increases.
