A cooperation protocol has been signed between the Higher Education Council (YÖK) and the Istanbul Mineral Exporters' Association (IMIB) in order to train qualified engineers needed by the Turkish mining industry. With the protocol, a scholarship of up to 80 thousand 2 TL will be given to the students who enter the first 104 thousand in YKS, provide sufficient conditions and prefer the mining engineering, geological engineering and mineral processing engineering departments of universities.

Students will be employed in companies operating in the mining sectors after graduation. Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, who attended the signing ceremony of the protocol with video conferencing method, said, “Besides attracting successful young people to the mining sector; you open up business doors for them both during their education and after graduation. ” said. Stating that they want to turn the advantage offered by the product range in the mining sector into added value, Minister Varank said, “Engineers to grow; they will be guiding in the stages of mining, processing and acquiring new qualifications with R&D. Young people benefiting from this program will shape our vision for the future in the mining industry. ” he spoke.

Since the cooperation protocol was signed between YÖK and İMİB, an online protocol signing ceremony was held. Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Higher Education Council Professor. WE SUPPORT THE SECTOR: Our underground reserves are very rich. 90 of the 80 mineral species produced in the world are located in our country. However, we give foreign trade deficit in the sector and we still have reserves that cannot be processed. As a ministry, we attach great importance to developing the sector and we want to turn the advantage of product diversity into added value. In this sense, we support the mining industry with various mechanisms.

8 THOUSAND EMPLOYMENT IN 35 YEARS: In the last 8 years, 35 billion lira investment has been realized in the mining sector and 35 thousand people have been employed. In addition to fixed investments; we also encourage entrepreneurship, innovation and regional development in the sector through different mechanisms. The development of mining means increasing input supply in the industry and decreasing dependence on imports.

NO OBSTACLE: Turkey's future in the high-tech and value-added production. We have a lot of physical and human capital to shape the future. There is no obstacle that we cannot overcome with the cooperation of public, real sector and academia.

In his speech, YÖK President Saraç explained that as Yeni YÖK, they are in constant contact with the sector representatives in terms of training people who have the qualifications required by the industry, who have high skills in practice and skills, and to establish employment-oriented policies. Noting that the mining sector is among the leading sectors in the country's economic development and increasing international competitiveness, Saraç stated that they are together with the representatives of the mining sector in order to gain highly skilled engineers. Stating that mining is among the leading sectors, Saraç said:

THREE MAIN OBJECTIVES: This protocol, which we will sign, has three main objectives: Attracting successful students to the mining industry and rewarding students for free, increasing internship and workplace training practices to improve students' practical skills, and providing employment to students after their graduation. In this context, graduates with high skill competence will be gained to the business world, and also collaborations of universities with the relevant industry can be developed.

WHAT SCHOLARSHIP WILL BE GIVEN ?: According to the protocol; The candidates who enter the first 80 thousand in YKS and prefer the mining engineering, geological engineering and mineral processing engineering programs of universities will be able to apply for the scholarship. In case of meeting the conditions, scholarships will be awarded to students who enter 50 thousand in the exam, 2020 thousand 2021 TL for the academic year 2-104, students who are between 50 thousand 1 and 65 thousand, 52 thousand TL, and those who are between 65 thousand 1 and 80 thousand will receive a scholarship of 701 TL. The amount of the scholarship will be updated at the beginning of each academic year.
