Izmir Metropolitan Municipality launched the Mobile Market project for citizens staying at home due to a coronavirus outbreak. Thanks to the service that started with the slogan "You are at your home, in your market district", citizens can shop at affordable prices without leaving their homes.
During the coronavirus epidemic, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Buca Municipality implemented an exemplary project that will meet the fresh vegetable and fruit needs of citizens and support the producer. The Mobile Market application, which will bring the market to the doors of citizens who have to stay at home due to the epidemic, has started in Buca today. Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer and Buca Mayor Erhan Kılıç, who went to Buca early in the morning, started the project that will become widespread throughout İzmir in a short time.
Within the scope of the project, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality determines the price in five main products (onions, potatoes, lemons, apples and oranges) and thus aims to provide the price arrangement throughout İzmir. The Mobile Market project started working with 20 pickup trucks in the first place. Some of the citizens, who could not go to the markets due to the fear of the epidemic, had the opportunity to shop by shaking a basket, while others came near the vehicles. It was observed that the people of Izmir who shop from their homes are very satisfied with the quality and prices of the products.
“Market products come to houses at affordable prices”
Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Tunç Soyer, stated that they will spread the Mobile Market project, which will bring together the citizens who cannot leave the house due to the epidemic, to İzmir, “Fikir Buca belonged to our Mayor Erhan Kılıç and we liked it. We have taken the necessary measures to maintain physical distance and sterilization in the market places, but still the number of shoppers is high. Mobile Market is an application that encourages our citizens to stay at home. We prepared by paying attention to both sterilization and price policy. We deliver clean healthy food below market prices to the homes of our citizens. During the pandemic, if we manage to keep our citizens at home with the Mobile Market application, we will reduce the spread rate of the epidemic as much. ”
Reminding that the application is a model that will encourage the manufacturer and make it return to the soil, President Soyer said, “If this epidemic will eventually end and the production stops when this epidemic is over, then the real disaster will happen if the citizen does not cultivate the land. We have to take precautions against this. ”
"I wish to be an example to Turkey"
The Buca Mayor Erhan Kilic thanking Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer for the support given to the project, "I wish to be an example to all of Turkey Mobile Market applications starting from Buca. It is important to maintain social distance in the market places, but whatever we do, this is not possible. This service will prevent the spread of the epidemic, ”he said.
Çekdar Bakır, a marketer selling with a Mobile Market vehicle, said, “Our elders started such a project. We are very happy to take part in this project. Products are of good quality, prices are affordable. We take the products our elderly want to their homes. Markets are crowded after all. We love our people and we always want to serve. ”
