Governorship of Istanbul Takes New Measures to Protect Social Distance in Public Transportation

The Governorship of Istanbul announced the measures and decisions regarding the protection of social distance in public transport vehicles, effective from 13:2020 on Monday, 05.00 April XNUMX.

The statement made by the Governorship of Istanbul said:

Measures and decisions regarding the protection of social distance in public transportation vehicles For the purpose of maintaining social distance in public transportation vehicles, by the Provincial General Sanitary Council, in public transportation vehicles (metro, metrobus, Marmaray, tram, IETT, private public) operating within Istanbul (land, sea and rail systems). buses and Istanbul Bus Inc. and included):

1-) All drivers and passengers are required to wear masks. Those who do not use masks should not be taken to public transportation vehicles, and individual punishments should be applied to drivers and passengers who are found to be without a mask,

2-) Since the social distance is not maintained in public transportation vehicles 'if 50% of the passenger carrying capacity is taken';

• No more than 50 percent of the number of passengers seated,
• Limiting the number of passengers standing to not exceed half of the seated passengers,
• Leaving the corridor side of the two-seater seats in the vehicles empty, ensuring that passengers can travel on the seats by the window,

3-) In order to make it easier for the passengers traveling or waiting at the station to comply with the social distance, making necessary markings at the stops and inside the vehicle (labels etc.)

4-) Liquid hand disinfectant in all public transport and stops.

5-) To impose administrative fines in accordance with Article 1593 of the General Sanitary Law No. 282 on those who violate the above mentioned measures.

6-) It was decided by the relevant administrations to make arrangements to increase the number of trips and to announce the regulations to our people in order to protect the social distance in the vehicles and prevent the victimization of our citizens.
