Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlustarted morale visits to the personnel of the institutions who had to work during the coronavirus epidemic that affected our country as well as the whole world. Ekrem İmamoğlu, within the scope of these visits, first met with the train drivers at the campus in Topkapı, the first stop of the T4 Topkapı–Mescid-i Selam Tram Line.
“We have no friends in critical condition”
Metro Istanbul General Manager Özgür Soy made the first speech at the meeting held in accordance with the social distance rules. Soy said, “These are our friends who applaud their health workers every day and bring them home and work. We always applaud them. Unfortunately, we also had some sick friends recently. There were also quarantine entrants. We continue with difficulty. Thank God we don't have a friend who is in critical condition. We expect those who have recovered to join us again. We are experiencing such a difficult process. We will survive with your support. ” said.
“We are Witnesses of History…”
President Imamoğlu, who started his speech after General Manager Soy, stressed that he was happy to be with the employees and emphasized that a historical process was passed on behalf of both the world and our country. İmamoğlu said, “This is a pandemic process in which the whole world feels each other for the first time. In a way, we are witnesses of history. Another responsibility occurs in people who experience such periods. There is also an obligation to prepare for the next period. In this sense, I am one of those who think that the rules will be rewritten, the world will step into a new order and that we all have responsibility at this point. This process does not have a simple reading in my mind. When I connect from different parts of the world, I listen to similar feelings from those who are administrators in cities like us. ” he spoke.
“You are the Heroes of Transportation…”
Underlining that IMM is trying to provide transportation services while going through difficult conditions as a country, Ekrem İmamoğlu, “There are heroes of transportation service; it's you. A mission in difficult conditions. How many of us will stay healthy? How long will this service be sustainable? We are also responsible for making all these planning, calculations and backups. This is not a simple matter. I pray for the health of all of you as we continue to serve. God bless you all and your family.” he said.
“The Number of Passengers Increased in One Week…”
Reminding that everyone from different professions made a great effort to carry out the process in a healthy way, İmamoğlu stated that Istanbul should be isolated in order to protect the people of the city, “I am not saying this, this is not my personal opinion. When I said it on the first day, I have spoken to scientists by reading scientific reports and I have been expressing this since 24 March. Who wants to say, do not go out on the streets, but this requires it. Last week we carried 890 thousand people on Monday, yesterday we carried 1 million 110 thousand people according to our reports. It increased when it should decrease. Is it not a pity for people who have contributed to this effort? According to some data, it was determined that 2 and a half million people are mobile according to mobile phone movements. When you look at it, it's 15 percent, but 2 and a half million. ” said.
“Difficult Days But We Will Overcome…”
Mayor Imamoglu thanked the train drivers for their efforts in this process and underlined that they were grateful to them. Emphasizing that employees should not disrupt the hygiene rules in their homes, İmamoğlu continued as follows:
"Tough times. But we will overcome. We will prepare for the new period, the form of management will change. The employee needs to be different, the administrators have to be different. Our children who live these days will see tomorrow, write and draw other things. They will look at another concept. They will not forget the reasons why they are trapped inside the house for a month, two months and three months. ”
