Family, Labor and Social Services Minister Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk said that they have taken a number of new measures to protect organizations affiliated with the General Directorate for Disabled and Elderly Services from COVID-19.

Minister Selçuk stated that the General Directorate of Disabled and Elderly Services was prepared and sent to all provinces by the Coronavirus Information Guide 2 for organizations; “As of January 7, 2020, we have quickly implemented all necessary measures in the fight against coronavirus. We have prepared a second guide on the precautions and procedures that should be taken in our institutions to protect the health of our elders and staff in nursing homes. Thus, we have collected the measures we have taken in this guide. ” said.

COVID-19 Test for Employees

According to the new Coronavirus Information Guide prepared and sent to the organizations by the General Directorate for Disabled and Elderly Services, COVID-14 testing is requested for every external personnel within the scope of the 19-day shift system.

Employees, "There is no risk of COVID-19." You have to log in to the organization with a document with the phrase and use the masks with the "NR" sign, which means "Cannot be reused."

Showing Sensitivity to Food Lists

In the guide prepared by the General Directorate, it is required to show the necessary sensitivity in the food consumption of those staying in the organizations. Protein and vitamin C will be predominantly prepared while organizing food lists, especially for elderly people with diabetes.

Organizations will be supplied with closed bread instead of open bread. Organizations will not be able to order food or fruits from outside. Compulsory cargoes will be minimized and disinfected in safety and taken into the organization.

In the guide, the elderly and disabled people staying in the organizations were also asked to have their families interviewed via video phones.

Social Isolation Rooms, Social Isolation Floors and Social Isolation Buildings Created

On the other hand, definitions such as Social Isolation Rooms, Social Isolation Floors and Social Isolation Buildings explained in the first guide were repeated in the second guide.

In the first guide prepared by the General Directorate for Disabled and Elderly Services, many decisions were put into effect in any institution, with the case that a case was referred to the hospital with suspicion of COVID-19, as the relevant place was declared as a Risky Organization. In this context, Social Isolation Rooms have been created to protect the elderly and the disabled. Organizations that are not accepted as elderly and are planned to be newly opened are also designed as Social Isolation Institutions and it is decided to be commissioned when necessary.

In addition, with the second guide, it was emphasized that the elderly / disabled who were hospitalized for any reason were quarantined for 14 days after discharge.

Staying in single rooms whenever possible

The elderly or disabled in the organizations were transferred to single rooms as much as possible. If it is not possible, the rooms in the organizations were rearranged to be 2 meters per bed.

With the help of follow-up charts, the fever, pulse, cough complaints and respiratory rate follow-ups of the elderly are continued.

Acting in Accordance with Contact Tracking Guide

The 'Contact Tracking Guide' published by the Ministry of Health was also put into practice in the organizations. The personnel in charge are isolated from other employees in case of suspicion of illness. If the officer is diagnosed with COVID-19 positive, he / she has to be quarantined for 14 days.

On the other hand, if symptoms of COVID-19 are detected in the monitored, disabled and elderly, it is isolated from other residents. After a possible case, the organization is being quarantined.

The Ministry also made arrangements in all establishments to provide maintenance services for emergency cases such as 'finds', 'abandonment' in a separate building, and also included the drugs used in the treatment of COVID-19 in the SGK's reimbursement list.
