Izmir Metropolitan Municipality launched the Mobile Market project for citizens staying at home due to a coronavirus outbreak. Thanks to the service that started with the slogan "You are at your home, in your market district", citizens can shop at affordable prices without leaving their homes.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Buca Municipality implemented an exemplary project that will meet the needs of citizens for fresh vegetables and fruits and support the producer during the coronavirus epidemic. The Mobile Market application, which will bring the market to the doors of the citizens who had to stay at home due to the epidemic, started today in Buca. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, who went to Buca early in the morning, planned the project, which will become widespread throughout Izmir in a short time. Within the scope of the project, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality determines the price in five main products (onions, potatoes, lemons, apples and oranges) and thus aims to provide the price arrangement throughout İzmir. The Mobile Market project started working with 20 pickup trucks in the first place. Some of the citizens, who could not go to the markets due to the fear of the epidemic, had the opportunity to shop by shaking a basket, while others came near the vehicles. It was observed that the people of Izmir who shop from their homes are very satisfied with the quality and prices of the products.

We have taken the necessary measures to maintain physical distance and sterilization in the market places, but the number of people shopping is still high. Mobile Market is an application that encourages our citizens to stay at home. We prepared it by paying attention to both sterilization and price policy. We deliver clean, healthy food to our citizens' homes at below market prices. "If we manage to keep our citizens at home with the Mobile Market application during the pandemic, we will reduce the spread of the epidemic that much," he said.
Reminding that the application is a model that will encourage the manufacturer and make it return to the soil, President Soyer said, “If this epidemic will eventually end and the production stops when this epidemic is over, then the real disaster will happen if the citizen does not cultivate the land. We have to take precautions against this. ”
"I wish to be an example to Turkey"
The Mayor of Buca, Erhan Kılıç, is the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. Tunç Soyer, for its support to the project, and said, “I wish the Mobile Market application, which started in Buca, to set an example for all of Turkey. It is important to maintain social distance in market places, but no matter what we do, this is not possible. This service will prevent the spread of the epidemic,” he said.
Çekdar Bakır, a marketer selling with a Mobile Market vehicle, said, “Our elders started such a project. We are very happy to take part in this project. Products are of good quality, prices are affordable. We take the products our elderly want to their homes. Markets are crowded after all. We love our people and we always want to serve. ”
