Free Mask Distribution Started in Public Transportation in Izmir

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality started to distribute free masks for bus, metro, tram and ship passengers at transfer centers, stations, stops and piers.

Within the scope of efforts to prevent coronavirus epidemics, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality launched a mask mobilization as it became mandatory to use masks in public places throughout the country. It provides free masks to passengers who do not have a mask at metropolitan transfer centers, metro stations, tram stops and ferry ports.

“Don't go without a mask”

Officials warn citizens that public transport should never be unmasked, and that public spaces should not be visited without a mask.

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, the mask distribution that started in public transportation as of Friday, April 3, reached 100 thousand on the first day of the week.

As part of the Green Armchair application, no more than 50 percent of their capacity is taken to public transportation vehicles.
