Documents of Sea Vehicles, Seafarers and Companies are Extended for 3 Months

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu attended the TOBB Maritime Chambers Council Meeting with videoconference. Speaking here, Minister Karaismailoğlu said that the Council of the Maritime Chambers made great contributions to the Turkish maritime industry and trade.

Expressing that sea transportation is the backbone of global exports and imports, Karaismailoğlu drew attention to the fact that global sea fleets carrying industrial raw materials, food, fuel and goods touch every stage of people's lives. Pointing out that approximately 85 percent of the world trade is realized by sea transportation, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “Therefore, the strategies that will carry the maritime sector into the future should be determined very well. At this point, important advances were made in 18 years during our governments. Of course, there are many more successes we have achieved in the maritime field. It is not possible to explain all this in this short time frame. However, we are aware of the importance of our maritime industry for a strong economy and we are very sensitive about the development and protection of this sector. ”

Trade Will Be Sustained Without Human Contact

Minister Karaismailoğlu emphasized that they have taken many precautions in the maritime sector, which is primarily affected by the coronavirus epidemic that affects the whole world, and said, “We have tried to minimize risk factors in the sector with the measures we have taken. Because we know that the continuation of the COVID-19 struggle; The maintenance of maritime transport is more important than ever to continue production, employment and international trade. To this end, we have implemented 39 measures immediately. ” Explaining that all human contact with the ships was cut, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the documents of all ships, seafarers, seafarers and companies were extended for 3 months in order to avoid the troubles in this process. Karaismailoğlu said, “Our aim is clear; to continue export and import by reducing the human contact to zero in maritime transportation, to continue uninterrupted trailer transportation, to facilitate and sustain the changes of seafarers in the port and coastal facilities within the framework of quarantine measures. We continue our work with this understanding. ”
