The concern for coronavirus has reduced the number of those who prefer public transportation in Izmir over the weekend. On 21-22 March, the number of people using public transportation decreased by 77 percent compared to two weeks ago.

The number of citizens using public transport at the weekend decreased by 77 percent compared to two weeks ago. On Saturday, March 21, 2020, 412 thousand 74 people boarded all public transportation vehicles. This number was 7 million 1 thousand 529 on Saturday, March 202. Compared to the previous week, the rate of those using public transportation decreased by 73,1 percent.

On Sunday, March 22, the number of boarding to public transportation decreased further and fell to 209 thousand 976. On Sunday (March 8) two weeks ago, this number was 1 million 93 thousand 201. The number of people using public transportation decreased by 80,1 percent compared to two weeks ago. Considering the two-day averages, the number of people using public transportation at the weekend decreased by about 14 percent compared to 77 days ago.

Ship voyages were also reduced

Due to the decrease in the number of passengers by 60 percent on weekdays in public transportation, cruise lines were also diluted after the metro and tram. Bostanlı-Karşıyaka- İZDENİZ General Directorate, which started ring flights between passport-Alsancak piers, reduced the number of these flights.

Last hours 20.00 and 21.00

Karşıyaka- Konak, Bostanlı-Konak, Karşıyaka-Passport-Alsancak and Bostanlı-Passport-Alsancak lines will be operated between 07.00-10.00 in the morning and 16.30-20.00 in the evening. The ferryboat services will continue between 07.00-21.00.

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer thanking the sensitivity shown, gave the message "Continue in the same way".
