Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) conducts disinfection work in metro vehicles and stations to prevent the spread of epidemic diseases caused by viruses. Vehicles and stations that are cleaned daily are periodically disinfected.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) cleans metro vehicles and stations that carry more than 2 million passengers a day against the virus every evening. Also, during the day when the passenger density is not high, the vehicles are pulled to the appropriate parking areas and routine cleaning is applied for the second time. In addition to this daily cleaning applied in vehicles and stations, Metro Istanbul washes all metro vehicles and stations with a special disinfectant fluid.

The cleaning team of 590 people is working…

Especially in subway vehicles, passenger seats, back and bottom parts of the seats, buttons, passenger handles, glass edges and ventilation covers are cleaned at the bottom corner against viruses that may cause respiratory diseases, Istanbulcard loading devices, passenger tourniquets, escalators and common areas. While 844 metro vehicles in total are disinfected by 90 people, a team of 500 people works at the stations and other campuses.

“We rolled up our sleeves to do our part”

Underlining that they carry more than 2 million passengers a day, Metro Istanbul General Manager Özgür Soy gave information about the disinfection study. Reminding that infectious diseases are on the agenda of the whole world, Özgür Soy stated that everyone has a duty to protect against these diseases and said, “As Metro Istanbul, we rolled our sleeves to do our part. All the vehicles of the subway are necessarily washed every day. We have also recently taken extra precautions in terms of disinfection. ”

It prevents the reproduction of micro organisms…

As a result of their research, General Manager Soy stated that they have taken precautions to prevent micro organisms from living in the subway, and that they provide long-term protection by preventing the growth of micro-organisms by creating a layer on the surfaces in the vehicle using nanotechnology.

“We do everything to protect Istanbulites from the virus”

Stating that they carry out the disinfection process with materials that are anti-allergic and have no harm to human health, Soy said, “The products we use in disinfection studies do not come out in normal routine washings and cleaning. We have started to use them in certain periods and used them in addition to our daily measures. Of course, ventilation is also very important. We work for the maintenance of the subways and the ventilation systems to work very well. In this way, by doing our part, we reveal everything to protect Istanbulites from this danger. ”
