Our citizens visited abroad for the purpose of excursions, entertainment, sports and cultural activities with a maximum of 2019% in 42,2 (excluding those traveling with them). This was followed by relatives and friends with 24,4% and those with business purposes with 22,4%, respectively.
Our citizens mostly overnight in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
Our citizens made the most overnight stay in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 2019, followed by overnight stays in Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Germany respectively. Citizens visiting abroad stayed an average of 9,1 nights.
While our citizens travel to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for the purpose of excursion, entertainment, sports and cultural activities, they traveled to Saudi Arabia mostly for religious purposes (pilgrimage / umrah) and to Iraq and Germany for the purpose of visiting relatives and friends.
According to the data of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the countries with the highest tourism expenses in 2018 were China, the USA and Germany, respectively. Turkey's tourism expenditure in 2018 amounted to 4,9 billion dollars.
