In order to stop or decrease the increase in global warming, new strategies should be developed in the field of transportation where the most energy is used. The biggest share in this change is the railway, an environmentally friendly mode of transport.

In the “Zero Waste Application” project, the works of which started in April 2019, TCDD has made 90% progress and set an example for many institutions. In accordance with the Zero Waste Regulation published in the Official Gazette on 12 July 2019, it has become compulsory for Public Institutions and Organizations to be implemented until 01 June 2020 and to obtain Zero Waste Certificate.

Carried out in conjunction with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanism in the first place in this project in a short period TCDD administration building, which was launched in Turkey has reached 102 business in general.

With the “Zero Waste Application” project, which is planned to be implemented at all workplaces of TCDD until June, the environmental friendliness of the institution is brought to the fore.

While many other wastes such as paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, vegetable oil are collected in a total of 10 categories, they are separated and stored in a center and transported to transformation centers. In addition, the collected wastes are recorded in the Integrated Environmental Information System.

Environment and Urban Planning Ministry made inspection on February 6, 2020 from the date of the document are entitled Zero Waste TCDD employees, says the goal of creating a clean and Turkey to bring garbage to the outgoing value to the economy.
