Transport and Infrastructure Minister Cahit Turhan stated that they carried 2019 million TEU containers and 11,6 million tons of cargo at ports, and carried 484 thousand vehicles on regular Ro-Ro lines abroad.
Turhan stated that they have achieved 80 percent progress in the infrastructure works of Filyos Port and stated that they will also participate in the superstructure tender this year.
Pointing out that they have completed the infrastructure of the North Aegean (Çandarlı) Port, which will be one of the 10 largest ports in Europe when completed, Turhan stated that the superstructure works here will be done with the BOT model.
Touching on the Canal Istanbul Project, Turhan said:
“We came to the tender stage in the Canal Istanbul Project, which will protect our Bosphorus and Istanbul. This year we will hit the pickaxe. We will ensure that an alternative door is opened by keeping the Bosphorus open to sea transportation without violating the provisions of the Montreux Straits Convention with Kanal Istanbul. We will protect the Bosphorus from accidents and dangerous loads. ”
