Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has placed 268 escalators close to the marking, with a total of 91 elevators in the pedestrian underpasses and overpasses, which serve in areas where pedestrian traffic is intense throughout the capital, but fail due to unconscious use, deliberate damage and poor quality manufacturing.
Urban Aesthetics Department Maintenance and Repair Branch Directorate teams work 7/24 for repairs and maintenance of elevators and escalators all over the capital.
STATUS DETERMINATION WITH MMO
An inventory study of the latest status of elevators and escalators that are active or not working is carried out by the instruction of Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavas.
Upon complaints about the frequent malfunctions of the stairs and elevators, the Department of Urban Aesthetics started to work with the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers (MMO) to take the orders of the current state of 268 escalators and 91 elevators active throughout the Capital.
While the 8 elevators that did not operate from 2019 April 6 to 2020 January 72 were malfunctioned and put into service, the final status of the working and non-working elevators and escalators is as follows:
April 8, 2019: 196 of 164 lifts are operating, 32 are not working
-6 January 2020: 268 of 234 elevators work, 34 of them do not work
-8 April 2019: 93 of 35 escalators are working, 58 are not working
-6 January 2020: 91 of 37 escalators are working, 54 are not working
SUBCONTRACTOR COMPANY WILL MAKE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR TO THE GREATER
While it is determined that the elevators used by citizens are used 2018rd and 3th class materials before 4; It turned out that the contractor company, which carries out the maintenance, repair and operation of elevators, uses encrypted boards by changing the boards, and therefore only the company can intervene in malfunctions.
Stating that they took action after this determination and started to work on labels especially in elevators, Selami Aktepe, Head of the Department of Urban Aesthetics, said, “We started to employ our staff at the Metropolitan Municipality, which serves within the Metropolitan Municipality. We also train technical personnel. ” Aktepe pointed out that the Metropolitan will perform its own repairs instead of procuring maintenance and repairs from across the city, and emphasized that they will both save money and respond to breakdowns more quickly.
WALKING STAIRS AND ELEVATORS WHICH WERE NOT WORKING IN JULY WILL BE CHANGED
Selami Aktepe, Head of the City Aesthetics Department, who stated that the units used in the escalators before 2018 are not suitable for the external environment and that the escalators with a 20-year life span have become unusable within 2-3 years,
He said that 2018 escalators purchased after 15 were taken in compliance with external conditions.
"Our goal is to make all elevators and escalators not working in July," Aktepe underlined that the lifts and escalators that do not work and complete their life will be replaced with new ones.
