IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, CNR opened the 7th International Book Fair. In his opening speech, he said, “There are some elements that will take us to a point in the world. Especially the interest in the book or the number of publications in a country, the efficiency of universities, the worldwide position of scientific articles there... Otherwise, you cannot send a message to the world. Using the expressions, "Especially, you cannot adjust the world by shouting and calling," İmamoğlu also answered the question of the journalists about the transportation hike at the exit of the fair. Emphasizing that citizens are right about the hike reaction, İmamoğlu said, “We are aware of living in Turkey, living conditions and economic difficulties. We know this. for 3 years; There is an Istanbul transportation that has not made a hike since May 2017. Our buses have not hiked for 3 years. But we have no chance to withstand this price storm in Turkey. We are struggling with an increase of at least 2 times the increase we made regarding all costs. What we do now; efforts to continue our service,” he said.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğluattended the opening ceremony of the CNR 8th International Book Fair, which can be visited between 16-7 February. At the opening of the fair, İmamoğlu was attended by CHP İstanbul Deputy Özgür Karabat, Bakırköy Mayor Bülent Kerimoğlu, İBB President Advisor Murat Ongun and İBB Kültür A.Ş. General Manager Serdal Taşkın also accompanied him. At the ceremony, CNR Holding Chief Executive Officer Ali Bulut and the guest of honor of the fair, writer Ahmet Ümit, made speeches. İmamoğlu, who came to the microphone after Ümit, made the opening speech of the fair. Emphasizing that it was very exciting for him to accompany the Book Fair, İmamoğlu said, “From the beginning, I take care to attend book fairs. In this sense, I would like to thank all the book lovers here and everyone who contributed to this fair.”

“MESSAGE HAS GOT THE WORLD…”

"There are some elements that will carry us to a point in the world," said İmamoğlu. Especially by shouting to the world, you can not make any adjustments by calling ”. İmamoğlu, who started his next sentence as "The most precious message you will give to the world ...", was the saint of the sound system. The humor of İmamoğlu, who could not appeal to the participants due to the sizzle for a while, said, "Yes, the message went to the world right now."

“WE ARE STABLE ON EXITING THE BOOK AND FAIR SECTOR”

İmamoğlu continued his words as follows: “The most important message to the world and our country; the production capacity that we will reveal towards this kind of culture, art and science. In that sense, the book occupies a very valuable place. There is a great deal of work, from the creation of a book, to its idea-writing and writing, to publishing processes, to sales. We need to thank the secret heroes of this business. Some problems with the costs we've heard from publishers recently are not really grateful to their great efforts and passions in the struggle to survive. The subject of fair trade has to be one of the most important and locomotive subjects of Istanbul. Cause, "Turkey Istanbul; Istanbul in Turkey say. Two concepts that reflect each other. Istanbul, which is an important brand worldwide, also has a responsibility to undertake pioneering works in every respect. In addition to this imperative, we also have some periodic difficulties. If everything could be under the authority or influence of the local government. We make great efforts to develop a common mind. Fairs are one of them. In this regard, if an investment is to be made, we have to establish a mechanism that brings together all its stakeholders and accompanies the steps taken accordingly. In this sense, one of the main topics of the Tourism Platform that we are trying to create is 'Congress and Fair Organization'. At this point, it is also working hard to operate the common mind mechanism. I would like to announce to all the components of the sector that we are determined to protect Istanbul's fair initiative as much as we claim this step about the book. ”

INTENSIVE INTEREST TO IMAMOGLU AT THE FAIR

After İmamoğlu's speech, the opening ribbon of the fair was cut. Imamoglu started stand trips after cutting the ribbon. İmamoğlu, who visited 3 stands of Kültür A.Ş., fulfilled the requests to take photos from the citizens. İmamoğlu, who progressed with difficulty in the stand area due to the intense interest, also had the opportunity to meet with some writers who had a signature day. Imamoglu actor İlyas Salman bought his books by cinema critic Atilla Dorsay and 16-year-old young writer İrem Karaağaç. Imamoglu answered the question of journalists about transportation hike at the exit of the fair. Emphasizing that citizens are right about the hike response until the end, İmamoğlu said:

“I AM SMILING THE POLITICS TO PUT THE TIME BEFORE THIS”

“There is nothing more natural than citizens reacting to the hike. That's right. Because we are aware of the living conditions and economic difficulties of living in Turkey today. We know this. for 3 years; There is an Istanbul transportation that has not made a hike since May 2017. Our buses have not hiked for 3 years. But we have no chance to withstand this price storm in Turkey. In other words, our citizens know the fuel hike from that date to this date. We are struggling with an increase of at least 2 times the increase we made regarding all costs. What we do now; effort to maintain our service. But I can say that we have made a raise that is far below the costs, due to our efforts to be on the side of our citizens. Otherwise, our citizens are right in today's economic conditions. I also smile at some politicians who make tragicomic statements. Because why am I smiling? As if Ekrem İmamoğluI regret that they missed the previous hikes and made politics over it, over an issue that raised a raise. Frankly, I'm smiling a little. But our people are right to react to every raise.”
