Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department was announced on February 10 for the purchase of 184 bus drivers. As a result of the interviews conducted with the participation of 744 candidates, a total of 450 candidates were entitled to take the final stage steering exam. Candidates who were trained on the technical characteristics of the vehicle around the campus of Macit Özcan Sports Complex were taken to the steering exam.

Metropolitan Municipality aims to increase the quality of urban public transportation services while providing employment for jobseekers by adding 184 new bus drivers. The Metropolitan Municipality, which was announced for the purchase of bus drivers on February 10, interviewed 17 people, of which 27 were women and 717 were men, at the Metropolitan Municipality Convention and Exhibition Center. As a result of the interviews, a total of 744 candidates, 25 female and 425 male, who were entitled to take the steering exam, were taken to the steering exam.

Candidates who will enter the first 184 in the exam will be entitled to be hired

The steering exam, which was held with 2 buses in total, 5 of which were training and 7 driving buses, lasted 2 days and took place in 4 sessions. Before the exam, the functions of the buttons in the driver's cabin of the vehicle were explained to the candidates. Women candidates were taken to the steering exam for the first time. In the exam, candidates' dominance, attention and sensitivity to the rules were measured. Candidates who will enter the first 184 will be entitled to be recruited in the exam, where applications such as returning from the intersection, approaching the stop, getting disabled passengers from the stop, correct overtaking and returning are made.

“Equality was supposed to occur now and our President started to provide it”

Merve Sağ is one of the 25 female candidates who took the exam for bus driving in the Metropolitan Municipality. Stating that he has been driving since the age of 29, Sağ said that he was studying painting at the university. Emphasizing that he has an interest in bus driving from a young age, Sağ expressed that he applied to the Metropolitan Municipality to have a dream job. Merve Sağ said:

“I do not see this job as men's and I believe I will succeed. I think that equality had to be formed now and our President started to provide this in our city. I want to achieve this job, which is seen as a male job, and to ensure continuity. I really thank our President for giving us this opportunity. Because after a while, despair begins to wrap. We women feel as if nothing can happen, and we experience low self-esteem or somehow obstacles. But our President provided this opportunity for women. ”

“I also wanted to take my economic freedom”

The mother of three children, Meryem Fedakar, said that she applied for a job to meet the education costs of her children, two of them university and one of them primary school students. Stating that he has 3 years of chauffeur experience, Fedakar said, “My president gave such an opportunity and I wanted to take this opportunity. I wanted to support them until my sons finished college. My wife is retired, getting a small salary. As a Republican woman, I wanted to take my economic freedom. ”

28-year-old Raziye Yıldırım said, “Previously, I was seeing bus driver women, I liked it, I was eager. I applied because I believed I could do this job as well. ”
