Domestic Waste to be Moved by Train in Manisa

An important step was taken regarding the transportation of domestic solid wastes to Uzunburun Solid Waste Disposal and Landfill Site, which was brought to Manisa under the leadership of Cengiz Ergün, the Mayor of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, and buried the city's 40-year garbage problem. TCDD 3rd Regional Directorate visited Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Aytaç Yalçınkaya and Deputy Secretary General Ertuğrul Yıldırım, signed a protocol for the transportation of 800 tons of waste by train.

Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department, 'Train Garbage Transportation Project' has been implemented. The project aimed to reduce the wear of vehicles, fuel costs, depreciation and maintenance costs, and to make 2 million 40 thousand 543 kilometers less roads per day in the transportation of garbage with TIRs. With this goal, carbon emission was reduced by 3 times and it was predicted to be an environmentally friendly form of transportation and play an important role in the carbon footprint. Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Aytaç Yalçınkaya and Deputy Secretary General Ertuğrul Yıldırım visited TCDD İzmir 3rd Regional Manager Selim Koçbay. During the visit, Manisa Metropolitan Municipality and TCDD Izmir 3 Regional Directorate together with 'Train Garbage Transport Project' protocol was signed.

800 tons of garbage to be transported daily

Stating that domestic solid wastes of 5 districts of Manisa are disposed by moving to Uzunburun Solid Waste Disposal and Landfill Facility, General Secretary Aytaç Yalçınkaya said, “With the EIA capacity increase, domestic solid wastes of 17 districts in Manisa province will be disposed at this facility. In this context; For the domestic solid waste generated in Gördes, Kırkağaç, Akhisar, Köprübaşı, Gölmarmara and Soma districts, the 1st district operation point in Akhisar district, Süleymanlı District and Alaşehir district, Killik Mahallesi for domestic solid waste formed in Demirci, Selendi, Kula, Sarıgöl and Alaşehir districts. The 2nd region operation point in the city has been determined and Uzunburun Solid Waste was transported and handled at the 800rd Region operation point in the TCDD expropriation area in the Manisa province, Yunusemre district, Muradiye District, with around 3 tons of domestic solid waste train that will be collected at these two points. It will be moved to our Disposal and Landfill Facility. We wish him good luck. ”
