Today, when concrete effects of global warming are seen, the importance of effective and efficient use of water is also increasing. IETT, which brings close to 4 million people of Istanbul to their loved ones, pays attention to the recycling of water used in cleaning the vehicles.
With the physical and chemical treatment facilities established in 13 of the 6 garages owned by IETT, it is possible to recycle wastewater. IETT recycles 40 percent of the water it uses.
SAVING, EQUIVALENT TO THE 4 YEARS OF WATER CONSUMPTION OF THE FAMILY OF 543 PEOPLE
The annual water savings achieved in IETT garages are 84 thousand 729 cubic meters. The daily water consumption of a family of four is 13 cubic meters. In other words, the savings obtained from IETT garages correspond to the 4-year water consumption of a family of 543.
Recycling of water also has financial benefits for IETT. In 2019, thanks to the recycling of water, 57 thousand TL was saved in Anadolu Garage, 29 thousand TL in Edirnekapı Garage, 24 thousand TL in Hasanpaşa Garage, 109 thousand TL in İkitelli Garage and 34 thousand TL in Kağıthane Garage.
SAVINGS OF 337 THOUSAND TL PER YEAR
The most important savings were realized in Ayazağa Garage. Ayazağa Garage, where rain water is collected seasonally, recycles more than the water it uses. Last year, 21 cubic meters of wastewater was converted in Ayazağa Garage, which made a great contribution to water savings, and 154 lira was earned.
