The Historical Tunnel, which carries passengers between Karaköy and Beyoğlu, will stop its trips on January 19 due to maintenance and repair work in order to provide better service to Istanbul residents. Transportation between Karaköy and Şişhane Metro station will be provided by bus services operated by IETT General Directorate during the period when the historical Tunnel line is closed.
Historical Tunnel, which is the second oldest subway in the world and connects Karaköy and Beyoğlu in the shortest way, has been serving since 1875. The tunnel carried nearly 5 million passengers last year.
