Turkey's Antarctic expedition held that the countdown has begun for the 4th science. Before the expedition, which will start on February 9, a team of 24 was given a “survival” training on the TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Ship. Participants who completed their education and received their certificates will carry out scientific studies in 15 different areas, especially in climate change and maritime research, in strategic and important regions of the White Continent Antarctica.

The team of 24 people, who are ready for the task by completing their survival training, will fly to Brazil first on Friday, February 9, and then join the ship from Chile. The team will anchor on Horseshoe Island, where the Temporary Turkish Science Camp is stationed, and will work with helicopters and boats. Staff of the Naval Forces will conduct a seabed mapping study, scientists will collect microscopic algae from the island of Horseshoe and its shores, and the findings will be biotechnologically evaluated.
