The trials of 2018 defendants, 9 of whom are under arrest and 3 of which are un arrested, will be started today in Ankara regarding the high-speed train (YHT) accident that occurred in 7, where 10 people died.

In the accident that took place on December 13, 2018 as a result of the collision of the YHT train on the rails and the guide train on the Ankara Konya expedition, 3 people lost their lives.

While the investigation about the accident was completed, a lawsuit was filed against the 10 people in Ankara 15th High Criminal Court with the request of up to 30 years' imprisonment for 'causing the death and injury of more than one person'. The first hearing of the trial will begin today at the 30th Assize Court.

Detained defendants train dispatcher Osman Yıldırım, movement officer Sinan Yavuz, traffic controller Emin Ercan Erbey and detained defendants YHT Ankara Station Deputy Director Kadir Oğuz, Deputy Traffic Service Manager Ergün Tuna, YHT Traffic Service Manager Ünal Sayıner, YHT Ankara Director Duran Yaman, Branch Manager Recep Kutlay, TCDD Traffic and Station Management Department Head Mükerrem Aydoğdu, TCDD Safety and Quality Management Department Head Erol Tuna Aşkın will defend against the judge for the first time.
