Mansion and Karşıyaka trams carried a total of 2019 million passengers in 40, preventing the emission of approximately 100 thousand tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
The tram, which operates on two different routes in İzmir, carried 2019 million kilometers in 2,5 and carried 150 million passengers in total, with an average of 40 thousand per day. Since these 40 million passengers used the tram instead of getting in the car, around 100 thousand tons of carbon emissions were prevented from leaving the atmosphere. While calculating, a tram set of 285 people is assumed to prevent 150 cars carrying an average of two people in one go.
The use of trams prevents more motor vehicles from getting into the traffic, reducing the carbon dioxide emissions leading to climate change, as well as reducing air and noise pollution.
