The electric bus project launched by Manisa Metropolitan Municipality in order to relax the city traffic and contribute to the environment was presented to the service of the people of Manisa last year. Within the scope of the project, test drives of 24-meter high passenger electric buses, which received the certificate of conformity from the Turkish Standards Institute, were started. Accordingly, a test drive was carried out from the City Hospital to Celal Bayar University İlhan Varank Campus for the electric bus. The 24-meter-long electric buses are planned to be integrated into the public transport system as soon as possible.
Environmentally friendly electric buses integrated into the public transportation system of Manisa within the scope of the transformation move initiated by the leadership of Cengiz Ergün, the Mayor of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, were put into service of the people of Manisa last year. Within the scope of the Electric bus project, which consists of 20 18-meter and 2 24-meter buses, 18-meter buses have been serving Manisa people for approximately 1 year. Stating that electric buses will contribute to the enhancement of students' comfort on campus, CBU Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ataç said, “I would like to thank our chairman for the fact that our Metropolitan Mayor Cengiz Ergün has allowed us to enter the campus with electric vehicles that will really bring a campus atmosphere to our school and produce a solution to the transportation problem of our children”. Taking the students from Celal Bayar University İlhan Varank Campus, continuing the test drive on the specified route, the electric bus completed the test drive at the electric bus charging station located in Manisa Intercity Bus Terminal.
