Important steps are being taken to strengthen the logistics sector, which has been in a rapid growth cycle for nearly 10 years. However, the main issues in which the Turkish logistics sector has to show progress are still up to date. In order for Istanbul Airport to have a larger share in the European market, plans should be made to increase and encourage air cargo activities at other airports, and fleet structures and operation areas should be expanded.
Likewise, the opening of BTK will not only strengthen our exports and imports, but will also pave the way for transit trade. Turkey, the memorandum of understanding signed between Azerbaijan and Russia has long been on the agenda in the industry. With this agreement, the volume of transports made over the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars line will increase and this development will give the railway line a commercial momentum. Europe via Turkey, this line connected to the Middle East and Africa at the same time in the country on the ancient Silk Road as a new Silk Road are able to foresee at the time the economy will make a direct contribution.
The biggest advantages of BTK are Mersin, Alsancak, Safiport and Derince Ports. Thanks to these ports, we have immediate access to all the coasts of the Mediterranean basin. We can cite Europe, North and West Africa and of course the Arabian Peninsula as good examples. In addition to this, Turkey's agreement with China will be a great asset to the industry in terms of expanding into new markets.
