The first submarine currently under construction under the New Type Submarine Project will be delivered to the Navy in 2022.
The submarines to be produced at the shipyard will be 66 meters and 13 thousand 845 tons. One of the major differences of the new type of submarines from the submarines previously built in Gölcük Shipyard is that they have an air-independent propulsion system. As a result of the reaction of the hydrogen and oxygen tanks within the submarine, electrical energy will be produced by the fuel cell system and this system will ensure that the submarine will be submerged for much longer without the need for atmospheric air.
