Rainfall and heavy wind, which were effective in Istanbul, also adversely affected air traffic. The planes that could not land at Istanbul Airport had to take a tour over the Marmara Region.

While the Istanbul Airport was being built, experts warned that the region was very windy and that problems could be experienced especially in winter months.

According to flightradar24, which provides aviation data from around the world, Istanbul Airport has become the 5th airport with the most delays in the world today.

The wind, which reaches up to 65 kilometers per hour in Istanbul, adversely affects air and sea transport.

According to Airporthaber, while the planes that will land at Istanbul Airport cannot land due to the wind up to 45 knots, they had to take a tour over the Marmara Region. Some planes attempted landing but had to pass the runway due to heavy winds.

Due to the unfavorable weather conditions, the planes that will take off from Istanbul Airport can take off with about half an hour delay.

ORANGE ALARM GIVEN

The roof of the Metropolitan Primary School, located in Beylikdüzü, Istanbul, where the 'orange' alarm was given, flew to the school garden due to the storm. During the incident, the absence of students in the garden prevented a possible disaster. The fire crews coming to the scene continue their work in the school garden.
