Intermodal transportation is one of the most important issues recently. Intermodal transportation appears to be a challenging issue for the Turkish logistics industry, as it is in parallel with the development of railway transportation. Because when this ratio falls well short of the rate of rail transportation in Turkey unfortunately still 1 percent compared with the neighboring countries and world giants. Especially considering that the rate of railway transportation is 80% in a country very close to us geographically like Russia, we can understand more clearly how this mode is open to development and needs.

We think that the 'Belt and Road' study of China is also effective in the development of railway intermodal studies. Because we can now efficiently bring our burden from China by opening the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line.

Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line with the entry into service of, cooperation between Eurasian countries and Turkey has accelerated. Agreements were signed with TCDD, Russian, Georgian and Azerbaijani railway administrations in order to increase the transportation in BTK line.

Turkey, Azerbaijan and the volume of shipments via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars line agreement with the memorandum signed between Russia will increase and this will give impetus to the development of a commercial rail line. This line Europe via Turkey, connecting the Middle East and Africa. This line will directly contribute to the economy of the countries on the new Silk Road as well as the old Silk Road. Baku in September to improve the railway transport between Russia and Turkey-Tbilisi-Kars railway line began trial runs first.

According to the information we obtained from TCDD regarding the BTK line, it was learned that there will be 42 wagons and 40 wagons to be transported in the first cargo group to reach Europe via Marmaray. Kars railway was carrying out electronics and entered Turkey on November 6 was greeted with a ceremony in Ankara Train Station. The train was the first to reach Europe using Marmaray in this respect. We also anticipate that an important load volume will be created by Marmaray, which allows uninterrupted rail transport between continents, to be actively integrated with the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line.

In addition, activating the railway lines on Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge will also be useful in this regard. In addition, the project of building a large tunnel under the Bosphorus remains on the agenda. When this infrastructure work is completed, Turkey will be able to become a center or a transit point between east and west transit in real terms. At the same time, an important development will be achieved in terms of intermodal transportation, especially as preferred by our European business partners. However, 'Logistics Performance Index in the 47th when we make customs procedures more efficient logistics flow and Turkey as particularly shown and will rise in the index are able to develop opportunities related to railways top 20.

The public also sees our ranking in the 'Logistics Performance Index' as a criterion of success and at this point directs its work with the sector. Intermodal is not only on our agenda but also on the agenda of the public and this perspective directs the studies. As UTİKAD, we continue our cooperation with other NGOs as well as the development of logistics infrastructure and integration of legislation with the world. We conduct mutual meetings with organizations such as TÜSİAD, MÜSİAD, DEİK, TOBB, TİM, and the Service Exporters Union. As we consider the technical perspective based on efficiency to ourselves as a compass, we continue our efforts for the development of the Turkish logistics sector within a broad framework that includes intermodal transportation.
