Intermodal transportation is one of the most important issues in recent years. Intermodal transportation is a challenging issue for the Turkish logistics sector as it is parallel to the development of railway transportation. Because when this ratio falls well short of the rate of rail transportation in Turkey unfortunately still 1 percent compared with the neighboring countries and world giants. Considering that 80 percent of the rail transport rate is in a country that is very close to us geographically, such as Russia, we can understand more clearly how this mode is open to development and needs.
We think that China's K Generation and Road çalış work is also effective in the development of railway intermodal works. Because we are able to bring our cargo from China efficiently by opening the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line.
Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line with the entry into service of, cooperation between Eurasian countries and Turkey has accelerated. Agreements were signed with TCDD, Russian, Georgian and Azerbaijani railway administrations in order to increase the transportation in BTK line.
Turkey, Azerbaijan and the volume of shipments via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars line agreement with the memorandum signed between Russia will increase and this will give impetus to the development of a commercial rail line. This line Europe via Turkey, connecting the Middle East and Africa. This line will contribute directly to the economy of the countries on the new Silk Road as it was in the old Silk Road. Baku in September to improve the railway transport between Russia and Turkey-Tbilisi-Kars railway line began trial runs first.
According to the information obtained from TCDD regarding the ICTA line, it was learned that 42 wagons will be available in the first freight group that will depart from China and reach Europe via Marmaray, and the wagons will carry 40 containers. Kars railway was carrying out electronics and entered Turkey on November 6 was greeted with a ceremony in Ankara Train Station. With this aspect, the train was the first train to reach Europe using Marmaray. We also anticipate that an important freight volume will be created by the active integration of Marmaray, which allows uninterrupted railway transportation between continents, with the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line.
In addition to this, activating the railway lines on Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge will be beneficial. In addition, the project to build a large tunnel under the Bosphorus is still on the agenda. When this infrastructure work is completed, Turkey will be able to become a center or a transit point between east and west transit in real terms. At the same time, a significant improvement will be achieved in terms of intermodal transport, especially as preferred by our European business partners. However, 'Logistics Performance Index in the 47th when we make customs procedures more efficient logistics flow and Turkey as particularly shown and will rise in the index are able to develop opportunities related to railways top 20.
The public considers our ranking in the 'Logistics Performance Index' as a success criterion and leads the studies together with the sector. Intermodal is not only on our agenda but also on the public agenda and this perspective is guided by the studies. As UTİKAD, we continue to cooperate with the public as well as other NGOs to develop the logistics infrastructure and ensure the integration of the legislation with the world. We are conducting mutual negotiations with organizations such as TÜSİAD, MÜSİAD, DEİK, TOBB, TIM, Service Exporters Union. Since we accept the technical perspective based on efficiency as a compass, we continue our efforts for the development of the Turkish logistics sector in a broad framework including intermodal transportation.
