Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Vahap Seçer said that we will shoot the first digging for the Mersin subway in 2020 and we are looking for a loan from abroad for the project.
President Seçer stated that they planned 100 years of Mersin transportation and gave information about the metro project. Seçer explained that the subway project consists of three stages, 7,5 km of above ground metro, 13.4 km of underground rail system and 7.7 km of tram.
First Digging for Mersin Metro in 2020
Seçer said, “This project is not only a public transportation project, but also a Mersin development project. The President signed the project and was included in the 2019 investment program. We started working immediately. We are planning a tram line to Şehir Hospital, University Hospital and Mersin University. We will shoot the first pickaxe in 2020. Our search for loans from abroad continues, let's find the loan from there, let the company do the construction, we want to give the financing and the construction of the business somewhere. ”
Mersin Bus Fleet to Expand
Seçer added that they will add 100 new environmentally friendly city buses to their fleets to ease the transportation of the city. “Thanks to our savings, we will take 73 new buses and 27 buses in January and put them into the service of our citizens.
