As a result of the arson attack at the central station of Cape Town, the capital of South Africa, the wagons of the two trains at the station lit up. Due to the burning of the train wagons, all flights on the line were canceled.

The fire, which broke out as a result of arson, left 18 passenger carriages completely unusable. Cape Town fire department spokesman Jermaine Carelse said in a statement regarding the incident that they received a report of the fire at 02.20 local time, adding that the flames were extinguished at 04.53 and that no one was injured in the incident.

While there were no injuries, a detailed investigation into the incident was launched.
