Intercity Distance Will Be Shortened With High Speed ​​Express Train; While the investments to be made on the railways are included in the 2020 Presidential Annual Program, the studies on High Speed ​​Train (YHT) are also programmed. The Ministry of Transport will start express lines on YHT routes to increase efficiency, while commissioning the new High Speed ​​Train lines in 2020.

According to Sabah newspaper Barış Şimşek, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, which wants to increase efficiency in YHT lines, will prepare a new operation model. Within this scope, express flights will be organized on the YHT routes between major cities.

YHT line length will be increased from 2020 km to 213 thousand 2 km in 269. In this context, the Ankara-Sivas YHT line will be one of the lines commissioned in 2020. While modernization and infrastructure improvement works continue on the railways, 2 thousand 657 kilometers of electricity and 2 thousand 654 kilometers of signal investments will be made on existing lines. An electrification of 492 kilometers and signalization of 804 kilometers will be completed. The length of the electric line will be increased from 45 to 49 kilometers and the signal line ratio will be increased from 50 kilometers to 56 kilometers.

New lines will be completed in 2020

In 2020, new railway lines will also be completed. In this direction Halkalı- Kapıkule Railway Project will be completed to serve the manufacturing industry and export opportunities in the region will be increased. The Konya-Gaziantep railway line will be completed and access to the ports of Adana, Mersin and İskenderun will be facilitated by the manufacturing industry sectors.
